My name is Alyssa Fresh. I am currently participating in an English composition class in which this website is my final assignment. I have been crocheting for almost four years and last Christmas I picked up knitting. While making my own patterns and experimenting with different yarns, I have grown quite fond of it. As I crochet or knit at the park or many other public places, others around me ask questions and make comments such as, “isn’t that for old people?” and “that looks boring.” With my head held high, I happily explain that I have never seen my grandma make a rainbow colored backpack or a lime green pair of leg warmers. The creativity I gain from “yarning” is fun and rewarding. It relaxes me on stress-filled days and brightens me up on lazy days. Some people actually sit and let me show them a little. I have got most of my friends crocheting simple things and my sister has already made a blanket. “Yarning” is more than just a hobby that I encourage everyone to try out, it is a wonderful, mind stimulating skill that is useful and amazing.
Thank you.
